Reviewers and panels
A panel is a group of people chosen to look at every idea while it is in a certain step. A reviewer is one person from that panel, picked by a collection manager to review one specific idea. When they are done, the reviewer clicks Mark as reviewed.
Who can do this: collection managers and Admins set up panels and assign reviewers. Panel members and reviewers can be any members, Managers or Admins of the hive, but not guests.
Panels
Collection managers add a panel to a step in the step’s settings, under Panel. The Inbox can have a panel too, under Form & step settings. See Adding and setting up steps.
While an idea is in their step, panel members:
- can see it, even if it is hidden from other members or the step hides its ideas
- get a notification and an email when an idea moves into their step. The email is headed Your input is needed and has a button to open the idea.
- can answer and rate the step’s questions on the idea, and see the step’s Voting and Scoring overview. See Rating ideas and answering step questions.
Moving an idea back to the Inbox sends no email. Once an idea leaves their step, panel members lose this extra access to it.
Panel members don’t get any extra access to comments. The list of who is on a panel is shown only to collection managers, Admins and the panel members themselves.
Turn on reviewers for a step
Reviewers only work on a step (or the Inbox) where a collection manager has turned on Enable reviewer.
- Open the collection’s Manage view.
- Click the step in the sidebar and open the Step tab. For the Inbox, open Form & step settings.
- Add people to the Panel. Only panel members can be picked as reviewers.
- Turn on Enable reviewer.
- Save your changes.
When this is on, every idea in that step shows a reviewer box to everyone who opens it.
Assign a reviewer to an idea
- Open the idea. The reviewer box says No reviewer assigned.
- Click Assign reviewer.
- Pick a person from the list. The list shows the step’s panel members.
- Click Save. You see Reviewer assigned.
If the list is empty, the step has no panel yet. Add panel members in the step settings first.
To change the reviewer, click the reviewer’s name in the box and pick someone else. This starts the review again. To remove a reviewer who has not reviewed yet, click the × (Remove reviewer).
No notification or email is sent when you assign a reviewer, so let the person know.
Mark an idea as reviewed
If you are the assigned reviewer, the reviewer box shows Waiting to be reviewed, followed by your name. While the idea is in your step, you can also answer and rate that step’s questions on the idea before you mark it as reviewed.
- Open the idea.
- Click Mark as reviewed.
- Add a comment about your review if you want to. It is optional.
- Click Mark as reviewed again to confirm.
The box now shows Reviewed, your name and when you reviewed it, plus your comment.
Changed your mind? Click Undo. This also clears your comment.
Only the reviewer of the step the idea is in now can mark it as reviewed. When the idea moves to another step, the earlier review stays in its history and the new step starts without a reviewer.
Who sees the review
- Everyone who opens the idea sees whether it has been reviewed, and by whom.
- The review comment is shown only to the reviewer, collection managers and Admins.
