How to edit or delete your idea
You can edit the answers you gave in your idea at any time, from the ⋯ menu on the idea. You can delete your idea yourself only while it is still in the Inbox, and only if you are the person who submitted it.
Who can do this: the person who submitted the idea. People added as contributors can edit, but not delete.
Edit your idea
- Open your idea. You can find it in the collection, or on your profile under Contributions.
- Click ⋯ (More actions) next to the like or vote button.
- Click Edit. The Edit contribution window opens with your current answers.
- Change what you need.
- Click Save. You see Contribution updated.
If you change your answer to the title or description question, the idea’s title and text update too.
Save stays grey while a required question is empty. Fill it in and try again.
What you can and can’t change
You can change:
- any answer you gave when you submitted
- files on a file question, directly on the idea. See Adding files to an idea.
You can’t change:
- a question you left blank when you submitted, if the collection managers keep that question for themselves
- the Hide from other members choice. Ask a collection manager if you want your idea hidden or visible.
- the step the idea is in, its assignees or its contributors. Collection managers handle these.
If you need something changed that you can’t do yourself, add a comment on the idea or ask a collection manager.
Delete your idea
You can delete your idea while it is in the Inbox. The Inbox is where every new idea lands before the collection managers move it to a step. The step label at the top of your idea shows where it is.
- Open your idea.
- Click ⋯ (More actions).
- Click Delete.
- Click Delete again to confirm. You see Contribution deleted.
Deleting removes the idea and everything on it: answers, comments, reactions and files. It can’t be undone.
Note: Once a collection manager has moved your idea to a step, you can no longer delete it yourself. Ask a collection manager to delete it for you.

Common questions
I submitted to an anonymous collection. Can I edit my idea? No. Anonymous ideas are not linked to you, so Hives can’t let you edit or delete them. See Hidden ideas, hidden names and anonymous collections.
I don’t see an Edit option. You are probably not listed as the submitter or a contributor of this idea. Only people linked to an idea, collection managers and Admins can edit it.
