AI summaries of a collection

Ida, the AI assistant in Hives, can read the ideas in a collection and write a summary of the main themes and insights. It’s a quick way to brief stakeholders without reading every idea yourself. Summaries are in Manage > Summaries.

Who can do this: collection managers and Admins. Members can’t read summaries.

Before you start

Generate a summary

  1. Open the collection and select the Manage tab.
  2. Click Summaries in the sidebar.
  3. Click Generate AI Summary.
  4. Wait while Ida writes the summary. Keep the page open until it appears.

The new summary is added to the list. Each summary is saved, so you can generate a new one later and compare how the themes change over time.

What Ida includes and leaves out

Ida only uses what every person who can see the collection is allowed to read. This is the same whoever clicks the button, so a summary never reveals private information to the people you share it with.

Included Left out
Ideas everyone can see Hidden ideas, and ideas in a hidden step or hidden Inbox
Answers to questions visible to Everyone Answers visible only to managers or contributors
Option questions, as totals Who chose which option
Comments visible to everyone Comments for managers or contributors only
Names and email addresses

Very long ideas are shortened, and very large collections may not be read in full.

If every idea in the collection is hidden, Ida has nothing to summarise.

Read or delete a summary

The list shows each summary with its opening words, who generated it and when.

  • Click a summary to read it in full.
  • To delete one, click Delete in the list or in the open summary, then confirm.

Summaries can’t be edited. To get a different summary, generate a new one.
