How to use Ida
To use Ida, click Ask Ida in the top bar and type your question. You can point Ida at one or more collections for a detailed answer, and come back to earlier chats at any time.
Who can do this: Admins and Managers, on a computer, when AI features are on for your hive. See What is Ida?.
Start a chat
- Click Ask Ida at the far right of the top bar.
- Type your question in the box at the bottom. Press Enter to send, or Shift+Enter for a new line.
- Wait while Ida is thinking. The answer appears in the panel.
- Ask follow-up questions in the same chat. Ida remembers what you’ve talked about.
To start a fresh chat on a new topic, click New conversation.
If Ida can’t answer, you’ll see “Ida couldn’t answer that.” Click Try again.
Use a suggested question
A new chat shows two suggested questions you can click:
- Help me phrase the question for a new campaign
- What themes keep coming up in a collection? This one asks you to choose a collection first.
Focus Ida on specific collections
Without a focus, Ida has an overview of your hive: a list of collections and a short snippet of the most recently updated ideas. For a detailed answer about particular collections, add them as context.
- In the Ida panel, click Add context.
- In Choose context, pick one or more collections.
- Click Apply context.
The chosen collections appear as chips above the text box, and the box says what you are asking about. Ida now reads up to 200 ideas from those collections in detail, including their steps, answers to questions and comments.
To go back to the whole hive, click Clear context.
You can only choose collections you have access to.
Tips for good answers
- Be specific: “What are the three most common themes in the safety ideas from this year?” works better than “Summarise”.
- Add context when you ask about a particular collection.
- Ask Ida to list the ideas behind a theme, then open them through the links to check.
- Ida can’t see likes or votes, so don’t ask it to rank ideas by popularity.
Find an earlier chat
- In the Ida panel, click Show previous chats.
- In Chats, click the chat you want to reopen.
Each chat is named after the start of your first message. If an idea or collection Ida linked to is no longer available to you, the link reads “(no longer available)”.
Delete a chat
- Click Show previous chats.
- Click the bin icon (Delete conversation) next to the chat.
The chat is deleted straight away, without a confirmation step. You can’t undo it. You can’t delete or edit single messages within a chat.
