Survey results, results link, export and AI summaries

Open the survey and go to the Results tab to see charts and figures for each question. Click Export answers to download every answer as a CSV file, turn on the results link to share a read-only view, or generate an AI summary of a question’s answers.

Who can do this: Survey managers and Admins.

View results

  1. Open the survey from Menu > Managed by me > My Surveys, from its folder or with search.
  2. Go to the Results tab.

The number on the Results tab shows how many people have finished the survey (clicked Done). Results count submitted responses. An optional question someone left untouched isn’t counted as an answer to it.

Each question is listed with its help text, its number of responses and its results:

Question type What you see
Text The number of responses and the 3 most recent answers. Export the answers to read them all.
Number Average, Sum and Responses.
Options A bar for each option with how many times it was chosen, most popular first.
Rating The average for each parameter, as a Bar or Radar chart.

Results never show who answered. See Who can see, manage and answer a survey.

Use the results link to show results to people who are not survey managers, such as a leadership team or everyone who took part.

  1. On the Results tab, turn on Activate link in the Results card. It is saved straight away.
  2. Copy the link, or download the QR code.

Anyone with the link can see the results without signing in. They see the survey’s title and description and the results for each question. They cannot change anything, and they do not see AI summaries or the export.

Turn Activate link off to stop sharing. Turning it on again creates a new link, and the old one stops working.

Export answers

  1. Open the survey.
  2. Click Export answers at the top of the page.

You get a CSV file named after the survey and today’s date. Open it in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers.

The file has one row per response:

  • The first column, Submitted, says yes or no. “No” means the person started but did not click Done.
  • Text and Number questions have one column each.
  • Options questions have one column per option, with 1 if it was chosen and 0 if not.
  • Rating questions have one column per parameter.

The export has no names, emails, dates or IDs, and the rows are in random order. This keeps every answer anonymous.

AI summaries

AI summaries give you a short overview of the answers to one question. They work for every question type.

  1. On the Results tab, find the question.
  2. In the question’s header, switch from the answers view to the summaries view (the sparkles icon).
  3. Click Generate.

Each time you click Generate, Hives creates a new summary based on the answers so far. Earlier summaries are kept, showing how many answers they were based on. You can open or delete any summary.

AI summaries are only seen by survey managers and Admins. They are not shown on the results link. The AI never receives who gave which answer.

Note: AI summaries need AI features to be turned on for your hive. If they are off, you see a message saying so. To turn AI features on or off, contact Hives at help@hives.co.

Common questions

Do I get an email when someone answers? No. Check the Results tab for new answers.

Why can’t I see the results? You need to be a survey manager or an Admin. The Manager role is not enough. Ask an Admin to add you as a survey manager.

Can I see individual responses? The export lists each response as a row, so you can see which answers belong together. Nothing in it shows who gave them.
