How to create a survey

To create a survey, click + in the top bar, choose Survey, enter a name and click Create. You then add an introduction and questions on the Build tab, and decide how people answer it on the Share tab.

Who can do this: Admins and Managers.

A survey is a set of questions people answer one at a time. It is separate from collections and ideas. Answers are always anonymous: nobody, not even Admins, can see who answered what.

Create a survey from the + button

  1. Click + in the top bar.
  2. In What do you want to do?, click Survey.
  3. Enter a name. Use up to 100 characters. The name is for you and other managers, for example in folders. Respondents see the introduction title instead.
  4. Optionally, choose a Folder. Start typing to search. If you leave it empty, the survey goes into Uncategorized on the Folders page.
  5. Click Create.

The survey opens on the Build tab.

Create a survey inside a folder

  1. Open the folder.
  2. Click Add > Survey > New.
  3. Enter a name and click Create.

The folder is filled in for you, and you stay in the folder. Click the survey to open it. To move an existing survey into a folder instead, use Add > Survey > Import. See Working inside a folder.

You become a survey manager

When you create a survey, you are added as one of its survey managers. Survey managers can edit the survey, share it and see its results. Only Admins can add or remove survey managers. See Who can see, manage and answer a survey.

Set up the survey

A new survey has no questions, and nobody can answer it yet. Work through the three tabs:

  1. Build: write the introduction respondents see first, then add questions. See Changing a survey’s name, folder and introduction and Adding questions to a survey.
  2. Share: put the survey on a page, turn on a link or QR code, or use kiosk mode. See Sharing a survey.
  3. Results: follow the answers as they come in. See Survey results, results link, export and AI summaries.

Good to know: A new survey is not on any page, and all its links are off. Members cannot find it until you share it.

Common questions

Can members create surveys? No. Only Admins and Managers can. Being a survey manager or folder manager does not let you create surveys.

Where do I find my surveys later? In Menu > Managed by me > My Surveys, in the survey’s folder, or with search. See Managed by me: your collections and surveys.
