Answering a survey
Open the survey from a page in Hives, or from a link or QR code someone shared. Click Start, answer one question at a time with Next, and click Done on the last question. Your answers are anonymous: nobody can see who answered what.
Who can do this: Anyone who can see the survey on a page, and anyone with its share link.
Open the survey
You can open a survey in two ways:
- In Hives: click the survey’s card on a page. You need to be signed in.
- Through a link or QR code: open the link or scan the code. You do not need to sign in.
If a link takes you to the hive’s home page instead, it has been turned off or replaced. Ask the person who shared it for the current link.
Answer the questions
- Read the introduction and click Start.
- Answer the question on the screen.
- Click Next. Your answer is saved.
- Repeat until the last question, then click Done.
You see one question per screen. The bar at the top and the counter at the bottom (for example “3 / 8”) show how far you are. Use the arrows at the bottom to go back and change an earlier answer before you finish.
If a question is required, Next stays greyed out until you answer it. If a question is optional, you can skip it. A slider you leave untouched counts as no answer.
When you click Done, a thank-you screen confirms that your answers were sent.
How to answer each type of question

Stopping and continuing later
Each answer is saved when you click Next, so you can stop at any time.
- Signed in to Hives: open the survey again from the page. You start at the beginning, with your earlier answers filled in. Carry on and click Done at the end.
- Through the link, not signed in: you can’t continue later. If you close or reload the tab, you start again from the beginning.
Changing your answers or answering again
If you are signed in, you have one response per survey. To change your answers after you click Done, open the survey again from the page, change what you want and click Done. Your response is updated, not added as a new one.
If you answer through the link without signing in, you can’t change your answers after you click Done. Each completed run counts as a separate response.
Your answers are anonymous
Nobody can see who gave which answer. That includes the survey’s managers and your hive’s Admins.
- Results show totals, averages and text answers without names.
- The export has no names, emails or dates, and the rows are in random order.
- When you are signed in, Hives remembers that you answered so it can stop duplicates and let you continue later or change your answers. This link between you and your answers is never shown to anyone.
Hives does not send the survey’s managers a notification when you answer.
Common questions
I can’t find a survey a colleague mentioned. Surveys appear on pages. If it is not on a page you can see, ask the survey’s manager for the share link.
Can I see the results? Only if the survey’s managers share the results link with you. See Survey results, results link, export and AI summaries.
Is there a time limit? No, except in kiosk mode on shared devices, where the survey restarts after 30 seconds without activity. See Sharing a survey.
