What is Ida?
Ida is the AI assistant built into Hives. You chat with Ida to make sense of the ideas in your hive, for example to find themes in a collection or to phrase a question for a new campaign. Ida is available to Admins and Managers on a computer, when AI features are turned on for your hive.
Who can use Ida
You can use Ida when all of these are true:
- your role in the hive is Admin or Manager,
- AI features are turned on for your hive,
- you are on a computer. Ida isn’t available on phones or tablets.
Members and guests can’t use Ida. Being a collection manager, folder manager or page manager without the Admin or Manager role doesn’t give access to Ida either. See Roles and permissions in Hives.
AI features are turned on or off by Hives, not in the app. To change this for your hive, contact us at help@hives.co.
What Ida can help with
Ida reads the content of your hive that you are allowed to see. You can ask it to:
- find themes that keep coming up in a collection,
- summarise the ideas in one or more collections,
- compare ideas, or pick out the ones that match a topic,
- read comments and answers to questions on ideas, and sum up what people think,
- help you phrase a question, challenge or campaign text.
When Ida mentions an idea or collection, it links to it so you can open it straight away.
What Ida can’t do
- Change anything. Ida can’t create, edit or move ideas, collections or anything else. It only answers.
- See more than you can. Ida only sees what you have access to. See What Ida can see and how your data is handled.
- See reaction counts. Ida doesn’t know how many likes or votes an idea has.
- See other hives. Ida only works with the hive you are in.
- Explain how Hives works. Ida works with your hive’s content. For help using Hives, use this help centre.
Like any AI, Ida can make mistakes. Check important answers against the ideas it links to.
Where to find Ida
Click Ask Ida at the far right of the top bar. Ida opens in a panel on the right of the screen. See How to use Ida.
Common questions
Why don’t I see the Ask Ida button? Check that you are an Admin or Manager and that you are on a computer with a wide enough screen. If you are, AI features may be turned off for your hive. Contact help@hives.co.
Can other people read my chats with Ida? No. Your chats are private to you. Not even Admins can read them.
Is there an AI summary for a whole collection? Yes. Collections have their own AI summaries in Manage mode. See AI summaries of a collection.
