Hives in Microsoft Teams

You can add Hives.co as an app in Microsoft Teams, so colleagues can reach your hive from the Teams app sidebar. There is nothing to switch on inside Hives: you install the app in Teams.

For an overview of the app and the questions IT usually asks, see Hives in Microsoft Teams.

What you need

  • A paid Microsoft Teams plan. The free version of Teams doesn’t support apps.
  • A hive on Hives.co.

Install the app

  1. In Microsoft Teams, open Apps.
  2. Search for Hives.co.
  3. Click Hives.co.
  4. Click Add.

Your organisation’s Teams administrator may need to allow the app before people can add it.

Sign in inside Teams

The first time someone opens Hives in Teams, they see “Sign in to Hives with Microsoft Teams”.

  1. Click Continue.
  2. Follow the Microsoft sign-in steps.

They are then signed in to Hives inside the Teams app and can use your hive there. Your Who can join setting still decides whether someone who isn’t yet a member can join.

Common questions

Is there a Teams setting in Hives?

No. Everything is set up in Teams. Who can join your hive and how people sign in are still decided by your hive settings. See Hive settings: access, sign-in and the login page.

Does this work with sign-in with Microsoft?

Signing in inside the Teams app uses the person’s Microsoft account. The Microsoft button on your hive’s own sign-in page is set up separately in your hive settings. See Setting up sign-in with Microsoft.
